Exercise Learning Guidlines
No Exercise Stands Alone
StarBarre Harmony is a progressive holistic method in which exercises are learned and practiced as part of a sequence, not as isolated exercises. Daily practice of the short, pain-free sequence is a cornerstone of the method. Even the Strategic Exercise—which may be used separately when symptoms arise—works best in combination with the regular 10-minute daily sequence.
Learning Exercises as a Sequence
Each StarBarre Harmony exercise highlights unique movement qualities that may have been overlooked or undertrained. The order of learning matters: a movement introduced in one exercise often reappears later as part of a more complex exercise. In this way, the sequence builds progressively and flows harmoniously.
The purpose is to master every exercise pain-free and harmoniously, so that the entire daily 10-minute sequence can also be performed pain-free and harmoniously.
Measuring Progress
The goal of every exercise and every sequence is simple: to feel and move better afterward than before. This may include improved range of motion, reduced discomfort, or less pain.
-
If an exercise causes pain or discomfort, modify it or skip it, then continue with the rest of the sequence.
-
Try again carefully next time.
-
This daily “pulse check” provides an accurate measure of functional progress and acts as a steering wheel on the journey out of the pain cycle.
Preparing Your Workspace (No Equipment Required)
StarBarre Harmony exercises require no special equipment. All that’s needed is a stable surface at about belly-button height, a chair, and a wall.
Popular at-home practice spots include:
-
Kitchen counter — stand tall and place your fingers lightly on the sink as if it were a ballet barre.
-
Windowsill
-
Balcony railing
Setting Up Your Sequence Video
Each StarBarre Harmony sequence includes two guided videos:
-
10-minute video — for daily home practice.
-
30-minute video — for practice with a human instructor (studio or online).
For home practice:
-
Select your sequence from the homepage dashboard.
-
Tap the 10-minute video button (left side) for your journey color and level.
-
Place your screen at eye sight and ensure the area is clear of obstacles.
For studio practice:
-
Tap the 30-minute video button (right side) for your journey color and level.
-
Practice under instructor supervision, following the video while receiving live corrections.
Timing and Frequency
-
Perform the 10-minute sequence at least once a day—ideally after rest or before planned activity.
-
If helpful, it may be repeated multiple times a day, provided you feel better afterward.
-
Example: if you experience pain at night, try practicing just before sleep.
-
Remember: StarBarre Harmony is a complement to sport and activity, not a replacement.
Using Your Strategic Exercise
-
Modify or skip any painful exercise within the sequence.
-
Use your Strategic Exercise as often as needed, but wisely, outside the daily practice.
-
The combination of Strategic Exercise plus the daily sequence ensures faster recovery and stronger, lasting progress.
How to Learn in Detail
